Intentional Leadership Word of the Day is ‘Trust‘.
Definition: Firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing.
Trust is a vital element in becoming a leader. If there is NOT a level of trust between a leader and the people he/she is leading, there will not be a foundation to build a ‘connection’ upon which true communication can be truly established. I remember being in a unit where our First Sergeant was somebody that could be trusted.
It was obvious that he didn’t care about anyone else than himself. It was so bad at times, that whenever he would come around to our work area, people would instantly become silent. I overheard the conversations among my co-workers, about how they didn’t respect him as a leader. I realized right there that I didn’t want to be that kind of leader.
